In Jan 2024, we organized a 2-day seminar in collaboration with the Uganda Medical Association at Kawolo Regional Referral Hospital. This seminar gathered approximately 56 healthcare professionals, including doctors, dentists, laboratory technicians, pharmacists, administrators, support staff, and nurses. The seminar focused on educating them about organ donation policies and practices, and the incorporation of this idea into healthcare service delivery. Key issues discussed included ethical considerations in organ transplantation, donor and recipient counseling, patient communication strategies, and the role of healthcare providers in promoting organ donation. The outcome of this seminar was a commitment from 30 healthcare professionals to advocate for organ donation in their respective practices. We learned that empowering healthcare providers with accurate information is essential for creating a supportive environment for organ donation.
